Dr. Trosien was selected as the only doctor in Tracy for the initial release of Invisalign Teen in 2008. As of the end of 2009, we have been selected as the only Premier Provider orthodontist of Invisalign Teen in Tracy and surrounding areas. That means that Dr. Trosien has achieved an unparalleled level of expertise and experience with the appliance. If you have questions about it, let us know!
Many patients seeking orthodontic treatment are excited about the possibility of having their teeth straightened invisibly. In the last few years, we have seen a lot of development in the area of the Invisalign appliance, which is about as close as you can get to invisible braces.
Does Dr. Trosien have experience with Invisalign?
Yes. More so than anyone else in the area, actually. Dr. Trosien has treated more Invisalign patients than all other doctors in Tracy combined. Align Technology, the company that makes Invisalign, has been consulting with Dr. Trosien for his input into the design of the appliance since 1998. He has lectured throughout Europe and the United States to train other doctors on the use of the appliance. Today, he serves as a consultant in the Research and Development department of the company. Also, our office was one of two offices in the country selected to begin treating adolescent patients with the appliance. The results of the study we have done have been used to train the country’s orthodontists how to successfully treat patients with the appliance. We are also helping continue the evolution of the appliance through testing of some of the newer components and systems.
What is Invisalign?
The Invisalign appliance is actually a series of individual appliances that look like bleaching trays. Each one moves the teeth 0.25mm closer to their straight positions. By wearing 10, 20, or however many your case requires, the teeth are slowly moved to their final, straight, position. The trays are
changed every two weeks, but we still see you every six weeks or so.
Does it work?
Yes, if used wisely, and by an orthodontist who understands the appliance, it works very well. Although it appears to be very easy to use, it actually
requires a great deal of knowledge about orthodontics and the biology of tooth movement.
Who can have Invisalign treatment?
Invisalign works very well for people with mild to moderate spacing or crowding and a relatively well aligned jaw structure. Large jaw discrepancies, like overbites, or the need for extractions cannot be treated with Invisalign appliances alone. Such cases must be treated with braces or with a combination of Invisalign and braces.
